When it came to designing the 2018 Volkswagen Atlas, the automaker set out to create a vehicle unlike any other currently available on the market. Instead of designing your typical SUV, Volkswagen set out to create an SUV designed with the needs of the "modern American family" in mind. The Volkswagen Passat received a big mid-cycle refresh in 2016, with some notable cosmetic improvements and the addition of new safety features and an upgraded infotainment system on the higher trim levels. TheFastLaneCar.com recently reviewed the 2017 Passat and reports those improvements have now been extended to the lower trim levels as well.

Volkswagen isn't new to station wagons by any means, but its new Golf Alltrack is the first designed specifically to go after the station-wagon-based, outdoorsy crossover segment that has been owned largely by Subaru - specifically its Outback - model for years, and to a lesser extent, Volvo and Audi.
