Electric batteries can deteriorate over time, but some are more resilient than others. The Volkswagen ID.3 proves to be a great model with an incredible battery construction, retaining much of its capacity even after lots of driving. While the VW ID.3 isn't available in the US market, it shares a platform with the VW ID.4 and should have similar benefits.

The Benefits of a Long-Lasting Battery

Batteries that wear down faster will run through their charge faster, won't charge as effectively, and have other similar issues. Volkswagen models are dedicated to offering the best, and the testing of the Volkswagen ID.3 proves that. While electric vehicles don't follow the same maintenance routine as combustion engines, there are still suggested care options that can extend the lifespan of your battery.

Independent Testing Conditions and Results

Testing was done with the ID.3 Pro S with 62,137 miles on it. It had been filled over 100% frequently and was left charging for several days, which Volkswagen does not recommend for its vehicles. The ID.3 managed to maintain 93% of its original battery capacity given these conditions. Further testing will be done at the 99,419-mile mark, providing a more in-depth view of what electric Volkswagen models can be capable of.
