The Volkswagen Passat received a big mid-cycle refresh in 2016, with some notable cosmetic improvements and the addition of new safety features and an upgraded infotainment system on the higher trim levels. recently reviewed the 2017 Passat and reports those improvements have now been extended to the lower trim levels as well.

The 2017 Passat is powered by a 1.8-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder or a 3.6-liter V6.'s test model achieved a stellar 38 mpg overall. The near-base R-Line Passat gets an infotainment touchscreen with USB connectivity, voice control, Sirius XM satellite radio 3-month trial, and VW Car-Net App-Connect technology. It also has Apply CarPlay, Android Auto and VW's Mirror-Link system. It also now includes the following safety features: forward collision warning, autonomous emergency braking, blind spot monitor w/rear traffic alert. New convenience features include a power driver seat, V-Tex leatherette upholstery for the seats and heated front seats.
